Search engines and AI tools have to work out who is behind a website: the business name, logo, location, contact details and official social profiles. Organization schema states those facts in a machine-readable format, so tools don't have to guess. It takes about ten minutes to add and doesn't change how your site looks.

What it is

Schema is a shared vocabulary from schema.org. You add it as a small block of JSON-LD inside a <script type="application/ld+json"> tag, usually on your homepage. Google documents Organization markup as a way to help it understand your business details, such as your logo and contact information, and many other tools read the same data. It is not a ranking trick: it's a clear statement of facts that must match what's visible on your site.

Copy-paste: Organization

Use this for online businesses, agencies and brands without a customer-facing location. Replace every value, and delete lines you don't have.

<script type="application/ld+json">
{
  "@context": "https://schema.org",
  "@type": "Organization",
  "@id": "https://yoursite.com/#organization",
  "name": "Your Business Name",
  "url": "https://yoursite.com/",
  "logo": "https://yoursite.com/logo.png",
  "description": "One plain sentence about what you do and for whom.",
  "email": "hello@yoursite.com",
  "telephone": "+39 000 000 0000",
  "sameAs": [
    "https://www.instagram.com/yourhandle",
    "https://www.linkedin.com/company/yourcompany",
    "https://www.facebook.com/yourpage"
  ]
}
</script>

Copy-paste: LocalBusiness

If customers visit you, or you serve a local area, use a more specific type such as LocalBusiness, Restaurant, Dentist or HairSalon (all are subtypes of Organization).

<script type="application/ld+json">
{
  "@context": "https://schema.org",
  "@type": "LocalBusiness",
  "@id": "https://yoursite.com/#business",
  "name": "Your Business Name",
  "url": "https://yoursite.com/",
  "logo": "https://yoursite.com/logo.png",
  "image": "https://yoursite.com/storefront.jpg",
  "telephone": "+39 000 000 0000",
  "address": {
    "@type": "PostalAddress",
    "streetAddress": "Via Example 1",
    "addressLocality": "Milano",
    "postalCode": "20100",
    "addressCountry": "IT"
  },
  "openingHoursSpecification": [{
    "@type": "OpeningHoursSpecification",
    "dayOfWeek": ["Monday","Tuesday","Wednesday","Thursday","Friday"],
    "opens": "09:00",
    "closes": "18:00"
  }],
  "sameAs": ["https://www.instagram.com/yourhandle"]
}
</script>

Test it

Paste your homepage address into Google's Rich Results Test or the Schema Markup Validator at validator.schema.org. Fix any errors, and check that only one Organization block describes your business, since duplicates with different details send mixed signals.

The free checker tells you whether your homepage has business identity markup and social links, alongside the other signals AI tools use. For crawler access, see GPTBot vs OAI-SearchBot.

FAQ

Does Organization schema improve rankings?

It isn't a direct ranking factor. It helps search engines and AI tools identify your business correctly and can make you eligible for features like a logo in results.

Should I use Organization or LocalBusiness?

Use LocalBusiness or a more specific subtype if customers visit you or you serve a local area. Use Organization for online-only businesses and brands.

Can I have schema on every page?

Your main Organization block belongs on the homepage. Other pages can reference it by its @id instead of repeating it with different details.
